Hawaii: Part IV

During our last full day in Hawaii, we made sure to spend some time at the Pearl Harbor Memorial.
It was truly such a wonderful learning experience for the both of us, but a somber one too.

Here is the sunken USS Arizona along with thousands of its Navy men.

Then, we took a drive to the North Shore of Oahu.

We dipped into the Dole Plantation to check out some  pineapples!!

Lunchtime at the famous Giovanni's shrimp truck!

We had dessert at the famous Matsumoto Shave Ice (Not: Shaved Ice, Snowball, or Snow cone)!

The long line was worth the wait. We both got different variations of their traditional rainbow, but I had adzuki beans added to mine and Ryan had ice cream added to his. Both are popular local choices. I could have done without the beans, but I'm glad I gave it a try. It literally tasted like cowboy beans at the bottom of a snow ball.

We enjoyed our last dinner, drinks, and live music at Hula Grill.

Before getting on our flight back home, we hiked Diamond Head.

Then, enjoyed our last few hours by the beach overlooking the volcano that we just climbed!!

I miss you Hawaii

Hawaii: Part III

Every morning at our hotel, guests can watch the penguins being fed. I just had to see. One of the penguins was placed right in front of me and they even let me pet him.

Then, we headed strait for Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve (best snorkeling spot in Oahu) to see what Arden calls, "pities".

 Look at that reef!

Then, we took a drive to look at some of the other beaches on the south east side of the island.

We came across the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen!

Along our drive, we stopped at this Shrimp Wagon. Several of the locals told us that the food trailers were great, so we thought it would be perfect for a quick and casual lunch.

Lanikai Beach
Oh my...this was the perfect beach! I see why it has won, "Best beach in the US".

This is also a popular place for model's photo shoots. We got to watch this model is the black and white swim suit during her shoot.

I tried to take a picture and a lady from their crew through a towel over my camera and told me that pictures where not allowed. I didn't get the shot, but Ryan took the camera from me and took the picture when she wasn't looking. Ha!

We weren't able to stay long at the beach because we had our Luau at Paradise Cove

Once we got to the Luau we watched this man climb all the way up this palm tree. Crazy!

Ryan did a great job at spear throwing!

This lady made me a wrist lei

Me in hula school.
I was such an embarrassment to the Frank family!

What a fun evening!
